Lichtburg Essen Current Programme
The legendary Lichtburg, Germany's biggest and probably also prettiest cinema is situated in the city of Essen.
The listed cinema icon has over 1.250 seats, plus 150 seats in the second hall 'Sabu', a screen of around 150 sqm, best picture and audio engineering as well as a big theatre stage. Every month up to ten new attractive movies are started and there are NRW and German premieres.
the carefully restored large hall with tis theatre stage offers an extraordinary frame for a wide spectrum of events like concerts, musicals, theatre, dance, anniversaries and presentations.
The Lichtburg is more than a film palace: For decades hundreds of first nights, movie galas and world premieres took place here. Since the reopening in 2003 the Lichtburg continuous its tradition of as premier cinema with success: Numerous movie premieres with stars like Til Schweiger, Heino Ferch, Joachim Król, Wim Wenders, Tom Tykwer, Sönke Wortmann, Iris Berben, Armin Müller-Stahl and many more were celebrated here.
The Lichtburg ist the beauty of German cinema culture and tradition. For eighty years it impresses with grandiose, stylish architecture and unequalled atmosphere.
